Gas Training Courses Wales
South Wales
Aqua Gas Training offers professional gas training courses Wales. We offer new entrant training, ACS initial assessment and reassessment. We have the right course for you if you are looking to make a switch from residential gas training to commercial gas training. Our state-of the-art training centre in Bedwas, Caerphilly, South Wales allows for you to learn and make assessments within a setting that is current in commercial, domestic, and renewable installation.
The training courses are delivered by gas engineers who have a deep understanding of the problems faced by today's tradesmen. We do more than offer assessments. We can help you plan your journey to gas certification.
There are four types of candidates. Category one candidates must have gas safety certificates or be gas operatives who are fully qualified. Category two candidates must have experience in a trade related to gas work such as plumbing. A nationally recognized qualification such as a certificate or national certificate is required. A NVQ certificate or city-and guilds craft certificate is required for the associated trade association. The candidate must provide written evidence of on-the-job experience in gas maintenance and installation to meet the requirements for category 2. This will be done in the presence of a qualified operator who is registered with the gas safe registry.
A category 3 candidate is someone who is brand new to the gas industry. If candidates have an engineering or trade background, they may be admitted to our pathway for gas courses. Full support and training are available during, after, and before your course. To support their training and gain work experience, candidates will need to receive sponsorship. A candidate with limited scope is an operative who requires partial qualification to work in a non-domestic setting, such as to be a pipe fitter. An engineer would be required to help the candidate attain their full competence. Each candidate will receive an individual evaluation.
If you would like to use our gas training courses Wales services please don't hesitate to get in touch by either telephone or email and we can answer any questions you have and get you on the right course, we look forward to hearing from you.
Candidate Classifications
Category 1 Candidate
A fully experienced gas operative possessing a gas fitting qualification or certificates of gas safety competence.
You can book any of our courses.
Category 2 Candidate
A Category 2 candidate is a candidate: –
already involved in a trade associated with gas work, e.g., plumbing.
- who holds a nationally recognised qualification e.g., NVQ or City & Guilds craft certificate for the associated trade association.
- who has ‘on the job’ experience working with a suitably qualified gas engineer.
- Evidence of qualifications held will require to be produced.
To meet the Category 2 requirements the candidate will be required to provide written evidence confirming ‘On the Job’ experience of gas Installation and/or maintenance under the direct supervision of a competent operative employed by a business that is authorised by the Gas Safe Register.
Category 3 Candidate
A candidate new to the Gas Industry (or UK Gas Industry) may gain entry through our Pathway To Gas course.
Ideally candidates should have an engineering or trade background, however this is not essential as full training and support is available before during and after you have taken your course and associated assessments.
Candidates will require to be sponsored by an employer who can support their training and provide ongoing work experience.
Candidates’ suitability for the course will be assessed on their individual circumstances. As a first step we would therefore suggest that they contact us on 01495 722 123 for an informal discussion.
Limited Scope
A limited Scope Candidate is an operative who requires partial qualification to work in a non-domestic gas environment, e.g., to work as a pipe fitter.
The candidate would be restricted from attaining full competence, and would require the assistance of a qualified engineer to complete his duties to the required regulatory standard i.e., the candidate cannot work with or connect appliances to a live gas supply.
Each candidate would be assessed individually and should contact us to discuss their circumstances.
